Suzan Geoffrey

Suzan was born 15 years ago. Her father died and her mother suffers from illnesses which require frequent hospitalization. Suzan and her brother Jackson tried to live with their grandmother but she is too old with low income, and life was too difficult, so they took to the street. Now that they live at TunaHAKI, TunaHAKI pays for their school. Next year, Suzan expects to be in grade 7.

"I need support from different people to keep our acrobatic group going. Acrobatics makes me feel free. I hope people support our children, especially survival needs like transport, doctors, shelter, clothes and hopefully some support from different people to help us with the problems we are facing now.

I want to visit other kids in the world, especially the poor ones. It makes me feel good to teach others. Performing makes me feel confident. I will be happy if we have our own permanent building to avoid the rent harassment which can put us in danger.

In my lifetime, I expect to travel to different countries with a tour group. I require our teacher to keep developing our talents. I request donors support our organization, and help us support ourselves, so we can work hard. "

"The children at TunaHAKI are amazing. When you hear their stories, and the traumas they have been through, it is difficult to believe that they are the same smiling, beautiful and friendly children before you. I know this is due to the work David does with them. Kids that grow up on the streets have very low self esteem and learn not to trust anyone, and yet these kids, through their acrobatic routines, are forced not only to trust one another, but to work together as a team and a family. And at the end of it all, they have something to be proud of. It’s beautiful and it works."
